QALO Rings on Reddit

By Kevin Rothman

I’ve been fascinated about silicone rings for a while. Last year, my wife and I had a small wedding ceremony without rings and for the past year have passively researched what we want to buy.

I’ve been into the idea of a silicon ring because I play sports and workout frequently. There’s a ton of brands to choose from QALO, Enso, SafeRingz, etc.

I did a quick dive on Reddit and QALO seemed to come up fairly frequently.

Here’s my hot take on QALO bands:

  • People found the rings comfortable for sports, working out and other activities.
  • Many people mentioned they originally intended to only wear their band for active wear but then decided to wear it the majority of the time.
  • If you get a thin ring, a few people mentioned sizing down because the ring may stretch.
  • If you get a thicker ring, get your normal size. (Though, one Redditor mentioned that theirs was a bit snug.)
  • The safest bet seems to just buy your ring size and work with QALO directly if it stretches or is too tight as their customer service seems to be great to work with.
  • If you’re doing something intense (rope climb) you do run the risk of ripping the ring. QALO will quickly replace.
  • Overall sentiment: People spoke highly about their QALO rings and no one expressed regret about their purchase.
  • That said, a few other brands were mentioned that people liked (Enso, SafeRingz, etc). To me, there’s very little downside of buying a silicone ring, so it’s really about finding an aesthetic you like.

I need y’alls opinion for silicone rings!

  1. “We got qalo rings, and are pleased with them. They’re great for this time, where we’re washing our hands a ton. I got the twist style and DH got the classic one for men. Mine is a bit thicker in the radial direction than I’d like, since I was used to a metal band from my engagement ring, but DH loves his, and was worried he’d find wearing anything on his hands uncomfortable since he normally doesn’t like wearing metal rings or watches. Also, we ordered our rings for express shipping in the peak of the COVID-19 shutdown near us, and they still arrived on time, which made a huge difference for us to actually have rings for our elopement.” (5 Upvotes)

“Thoughts about Qalo silicone rings?
I’m looking into getting a silicone band for when I work out and for when I’m working in the hospital. Has anyone had any experience with the Qalo silicone rings? I’m wondering if they fit true to size.”

  1. “I have two qalo rings. I wear a 5 in my metal bands and the regular qalo (size 5) is a little tight, I would probably size up if I got another one. The other qalo band that I have is a thin ‘stackable’ one and the size 5 is perfect.” (4 Votes)
        • Reply: “Thank you for your answer 🙂 How long have you had them? Do you feel like they would stretch out over time?
          1. Reply: I’ve had them for about a year. I only wear them to work out and they’ve been great but honestly I think the thin one probably would stretch out, if used a lot. The regular width one won’t stretch, I kinda wish it would.

“Hi guys! Long-time lurker 🙂 My fiancé and I got engaged last Christmas, and he insisted that I get him an engagement ring too (adorable!). Thing is, it was a cheap stainless steel ring, since that was the only one he liked. It’s since lost a couple CZs and gotten pretty banged up. He’s also really athletic and he says the ring is a bit uncomfortable and gets in the way. I was thinking to get him a metallic silicone ring for Christmas this year, I’ve found some online that I think he’d like. Do any of you guys have a silicone wedding ring? Opinions? Would you recommend it?”

  1. “I have a Qalo ring and love it – I use it for outdoor activities and the gym. Planning on taking it to the honeymoon too. I love mine! Highly recommend it.” (5 Votes)
  2. “I have one that I wear to the gym instead of my engagement ring! Fiance will also get a formal metal one but wear the silicone one everyday since he works in a gym. I got the qalo ring so I can only really speak to that one. I love it! I got the ring size that I normally wear and it fits perfectly.

I will lift or run at the gym and haven’t had issues with it pinching or getting in the way. The awesome thing is that even after my fingers swell from running or hiking outside it’s easy to get it off.

The one thing I recommend is to go with an everyday color like navy, gray, black, metallic etc if you plan to wear it to an office setting or whatever. I have the bright turquoise one, and it is very noticeable in a professional setting, since it’s a bright blue band on my finger lol” (3 Votes)

  3. Agreed, Qalo rocks. I have one that I use for yoga, traveling, and hiking, but sometimes I just leave it on because it’s so great. Comes with a nice little zipper keychain bag, too. (1 Vote)

“Anyone ever use silicone rings? So, theres a few other reason I’m kinda looking into them, easily replaceable for when I travel, won’t conduct when I’m at work, etc. But was wondering if anyone else has used them while working out. I’m worried the material on these will just fall apart or something quickly? I was looking at either http://www.aresrings.com or http://www.qalo.com But i’m not sure.”

  1. “Yes, I’ve used them for around 2 years now. I’ve only had 1 rip and the other one is fine (besides the kettlebell image is gone). QALO quickly replaced the one that ripped. Hope this helps!” (2 Votes)
  2. “I had a qalo one. I even got one that looks like my real one and no-one even knows. Love it. Bought half a dozen of them too. Would recommend.” (2 Votes)
  3. “My husband and I have been wearing Qalo rings for at least 3 years now, I have never had one rip, just stretch a little. My husband had one rip on a rope climb but we both really love wearing them – way more comfortable than a traditional ring. Just size down or it will stretch to be too big.” (1 Vote)
  4. “I’ve tried out a few of them off Amazon and Qalo is my favorite. Now I wear it 90% of the time.” (1 Vote)
  5. “I wear my Qalo ring most days, more often than my real wedding rings. I had a cheaper one at first, but upgraded when Qalo ran a sale last year, and I love it. Super comfortable.” (1 Vote)
